The Documentary

The short film tells the true story of eight young people who have experienced loneliness in different forms and stages of their lives. Each of them shared deeply personal experiences, ranging from social isolation to the struggle of finding genuine connection. Throughout the film, the young people themselves remain unseen on screen; instead, their voices are brought to life through carefully staged scenes in which actors visually interpret and reflect the themes being discussed. This creative choice gives the film both an intimate and universal quality, allowing the audience to focus on the emotions and narratives rather than the identities of the storytellers.

My job

I contributed to this project as the sound recordist, a role that required both technical precision and sensitivity to the subject matter. My responsibility was to capture clean, clear, and emotionally impactful audio during production, ensuring that the authenticity of the voices and ambient sound supported the film’s atmosphere. This included working with location conditions, minimizing unwanted noise, and collaborating closely with the director and cinematographer to create a seamless balance between dialogue, silence, and natural soundscapes. Good sound was essential to the film, since the voices of the young people were the central element carrying the narrative.
